The Official Website for Marcus Browne

13 – 11

His Olympic boxing tournament wound up lasting nine minutes, which is whole lot shorter than Marcus Browne imagined. He had guaranteed a few days earlier that he’d be leaving London with some hardware, but the 21-year-old Browne, a light heavyweight out of the Clifton section of Staten Island and the Atlas Cops ‘N Kids gym in Park Hills, departed with nothing but the first U.S. boxing defeat of these Games Monday afternoon, a dispiriting 13-11 decision to Damien Hooper of Australia in the ExCel Arena.

When you’re an athlete, bringing home an Olympic medal is all one wants. It’s a feeling of accomplishment in your sport. However , if that medal is not brought home, it doesn’t mean nothing has been accomplished.. I work at I. S. 49 and your success and determination has been radiating through our building.. You have inspired our students to work toward their dreams. That it’s a matter of ability and integrity, not geography. What you have done on the path to your dream is let others find the path to theirs. Good luck and best wishes on the rest of your journey.
